Start outside. Look up under your eaves. You should see vented soffit panels, the ones with small slots or a perforated look, running along the underside. If your soffits are solid with no openings, or if you cannot find any vents at all, intake is a likely problem. Then find your exhaust: a continuous ridge vent along the peak, or box vents and turbines up high.
Now go up to the attic, early in the day before it turns into an oven. Look at the eaves where the roof meets the walls. Can you see daylight or feel air moving through the soffit vents, or is insulation shoved right up against the roofline blocking them? Put your hand near a vent and feel for airflow. Check the underside of the plywood decking for dark stains, rust on nail tips, or any spot that looks damp or discolored. Those are moisture signals worth acting on.
